Heater making squealing noise

Asked by Cherrii Sep 29, 2017 at 02:53 AM about the 2005 Hyundai Elantra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my heater just started making this really loud squealing
noise. My air conditioner makes that noise as well but my
heater was always fine until this evening. I'm not a car gal
so I don't know what going on or what to do, and I don't
want a mechanic to doup me for more money. So any
knowledge would be amazing. Thanks in advance

probably the blower motor , when it's cold it'll squeal till it warms up , winters coming so you better get it taken care of

The bushing in the blower motor is going. It might be more quiet if the blower is turned on high to warm up the bushing the fan shaft is turning in, but soon you will need to have the blower motor replaced.. It is not easy to get to usually in most cars.It will get worse until it just seizes up but no telling how long that will take. It may last a long time like that if it quiets down after running for a few minutes.
