how can a 4 clinder 2005 hyundai santa fe runs rough, stalls after cleaning valve cover with varsol, washed with hot water then blown dry?

drove fine after repairs for about ten minutes then pinged, ran rough, check engine light came on #1 misfire (oil filled in sleeve #1 and #3 cyl) and cam position sensor codes, stalls.

Did you clean it on the outside while it was on the engine, or did you take it off to clean it? Either way, it sounds like water entered the engine. It is possible, because the oil in the # 1 & #3 sleeves tells you that the gasket s on the inside of the valve covers are leaking so if oil can get out of the engine and into the sleeves, then water can also enter the engine while running under vacuum.
