03 Santa Fe 2.7 or 2.5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have an 03 Santa Fe that I guess supposed to
have an 2.7 in it. My wife (not sure if she got the
right kit) ordered a timing belt kit for it. Well when I
stripped it down and realized that the pulleys were
different and the kit came with 2 belts not one I got
confused. I looked on the side of the block right
above the crank and stamped on the side of the
block it says 2.5L. So can anybody shed some light
on this situation for me please

When you look up parts, look it up by vin number. Most likely have the wrong year
But why would 2.5L be stamped on the block and I did look it up by vin and it supposed to have the 2.7L
The difference between the 2.5 and the 2.7 could possibly be the same as the difference between the 3.0 and 3.3. Basically, your engine could have been stripped down and re-bored to about 10 over at some point which will change the engines size, how ever, that would not explain the differences in the pulleys or the double belts. Have you checked the numbers on your engine? It sounds like your engine may have been swapped out at some point. Here is a pretty good read about the Santa Fe. Copty & paste it into your browser: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Santa_Fe#2001
Thanks that helps a lot
