sante fe engine life expectancy

Asked by kregg Mar 13, 2010 at 12:14 PM about the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking at 2002 Hyundai Sante fe with 160k miles.  If it has been taken care of reasonably well how long can this engine be expected to last.  I drove it and it sounds good enough.  Nothing on CarFax.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and I absolutely love my truck. I am currently at 122,000k and I wanted to know what is the life expectancy on this SUV? I keep up with my maintenance and hopefully it can last another 100,000k. Please help with great answers and HOPE! :-)

I keep a 2002 model. Still runs great but worried that tranny 'oil' (its automatic) looks like engine oil. I don't know if that's normal. It smells like auto tranny fluid though. . I noted the title of this thread. It has 235,000 on it. Begun encountering electrical issues, just like other threads are describing - AC and radio going intermittent. Alternator is still original, battery just last year. Am going to check battery contacts and replace alternator as time permits. I plan to replace factory radio with a new touch screen unit soon. Aside issues with vehicle, it works great for us and I don't see anything else on the road that equals it.

I found out that the tranny normally turns brown with mileage. Relieving. Great vehicle. Don't want a car payment, this one works very well for us and is not hard to work on, at least not most times,,but it can try patience. Radiator replacement really fried my nerves doing.

Looking at a 2007 Santa Fe @ 100K miles. What are the costs I should expect per year, assuming I maintain and it runs to 200K-300K?

I have 321,000 miles on my 2.7l 2002 model, and am happy with durability. I did lots of towing and needed transmission replaced at about 270,000 miles, so mechanic installed a used one and charged me $1k. Worth mentioning that i've used synthetic oil for entire time ive owned it.

I'm at 220k miles on an 05 and recently switched to synthetic. bad move cause the synthetic cleaned the gunk off my gaskets and started my first oil leak. swapped it back to convention oil but no luck the leak is there.

I have a 2009 Santa Fe Limited (I think they put their "A" team on those) with 170k miles and only thing I had to replace was normal wear and tear stuff like starter, neutral safety, plugs. Zero leaks. I'm driving her to the ground.

I just bought a 2009 used with 170 thousand miles that same day I went to fill the gas tank up and noticed that my gas gage didn't change and was still on empty and also noticed the engine light turn i googled it and noticed alot of people complaining on the gas sensor have you had this problem?

I have a warning I have a 2015 with 126,000 miles. AWD system started to fail because drive shaft is poorly machined and transfer cases went bad. No one could fond the problem because there are no computer codes and could not duplicate the problem. Well this made the transmission go bad eventually. After speaking with a technician off the record he said always buy 2wd because the all wheel drives are going bad at the 120,000 mile mark.

I have a 2007 hyundai sante fe, with 530, 000 km and she still runs great! 100% the best vehicle I have ever owned! Have only put tires, brakes, a power steering pump on it and keep the oil changed.

I have an '09 Sante Fe with 250,000 km. Very little trouble but recently changed the timing belt and had sensor issues where the tank read zero when it was full. Replaced brakes and now it runs like new! No engine trouble and my mechanic says the engine looks dry as a bone. Most reliable car. Also a alternator needed replacement a little while ago. Small potatoes really. This V6 car engine can haul ass too. I may never need another!
