At 60,000 miles my 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe's timing belt broke and we have had nothing, but problems since the repair. The engine runs rough, up hills it smells like burning oil & has issues shifting.
Our check engine light goes off every few hundred miles, the last one read
Code P0442. The mechanic gave us the car back & it vibrates at idle and
has a loud rumble when driving. They said they replaced the TB tension-er
kit because it was defective. The pulleys were loose after the repair, this
went undetected by the same mechanic for over a year. Could this have
caused other damage to the engine? Our check engine light is on again and
because we are under warranty the car is going back to the same mechanic,
but I think that there is an underlying problem. Thoughts?
