My ac is blowing out hot air

Asked by Pharanda Jun 25, 2018 at 11:07 AM about the 2010 Mazda Tribute

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced my ac compressor and put
refrigerant in it. The engine idles like it’s supposed
to whenever the ac is turned on. I was told it could
be the relay but I just want another opinion. Other
mechanics I’ve taken it to has said they don’t know
what’s the problem. I don’t wanna keep buying
parts and I still have no ac. I’m pregnant and need
this fixed ASAP!!!

Verify you are getting clutch engagement. If not either it is not getting power or the clutch gap is not within specification. Hopefully you have a gauge set. If the clutch is working then have a look at the operating pressures. They will vary with ambient temperatures. If not within specification or unusually high or low then there may be a restriction in the system such as the expansion valve or condenser. It's always good practice to at least pump the system down and put a new receiver drier in. I am assuming that the interior flaps all work well given the age of the vehicle. Some vehicles have a self diagnostic mode for the climate control to do flap tests.
