I am having s a similar problem that my back hatch/trunk will not open. You can not even open it by hand and when I called they said there are 7 services needed on the vehicle due to recall issues. It is a 2016 and I have never received a single notice regarding any of them.

I too have never received a recall notice. When I took my Sorento to the dealer to find out why my instrument panel was lit up like a Christmas tree, I got some double talk about a courtesy service repair due to an issue with the wheel bearing. I also have both driver & passenger side rear door handles falling off.

I have a 2011 KIA Sorento all 4 doors had the problem of the doors not opening from the outside. Kia repaired them all under a recall, now they're breaking again so far they haven't done anything.

On separate occasions, both back door handles ended up in my hands. One was shortly after purchase in November 2018. Dealership told me it wasn't covered and would cost around $300 just for the part. We didn't fix it and lived with just entering through one side. Yesterday, the other one came off.

My front door latches were repaired (not replaced) per CS1603A (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10090051-5448.pdf) on 01/17. The passenger front now never opens from the outside and the driver side occasionally. Dealer said , it was a one time fix even though they repaired not replaced. I reached out to KIA and they agreed. They said I could fix them and petition for reimbursement. getting to the latches requires completely dismantling the door and would cost about $500 per door and I fear this will happen every 2-3 years (on an 2011/9 year old car!) . I am submitting a complaint with the NHTSA because KIA knows they have a problem and their fix is very temporary. I even wonder if I was better off waiting for them to fail before getting the fix (that was temporary) .

I was having similar intermittent door lock issues on my 2014 Kia Sorento then yesterday I woke to find my battery dead! Got a jump and proceeded to Auto Zone to get a new battery ... low and behold my door locks are working flawlessly so far. Could it be when your battery is beginning to fail that the door locks start to fail? Is it a safeguard to delegate power from unnecessary accessories to starting the engine? Just a thought folks !

I have 2011 Kia Sorento SX (less than 60000 miles) and this morning (October 2019) the drivers side door didn't open with a key or remote. The door opens from inside. One dealer told me that it could be the latch ($300.00) or lock actuator ($500.00). To find out the problem will cost $120.00. I'm not happy.

I have 3 doors that won't open from the outside. That seems so dangerous in an emergency. I wish they'd recall it already it's an obvious defect

Our 2017 rear passenger door handle just broke off. So pissed. My first Kia product, never again. Cheap faulty design. Being an X mechanical designer by trade I find the use of plastic for this application almost criminal.

To my knowledge recall was done for front and rear in 2016. This is a very dangerous problem that Kia should address. I hope no one needs to be rescued, or need to get in their car quickly to avoid criminal misconduct not being able to open your doors puts us at grave risk. Both my front doors do not open from the outside and rear do work sporadically. It’s a shame manufacturers do not take pride in producing quality goods and services anymore. I know I don’t want a disposable car so this is my first and last Kia!

I have a 2016 Kia Sorento and the rear exterior passenger door handle just fell off in my hand. Checked for a recall....nope, none. I did buy the extended 100k warranty.....Platinum level that cost me thousands and guess what. The door handle falling off isn't covered they consider it cosmetic. I mean WTH? It's not cosmetic when it prevents me from opening the door from the outside of the car during an emergency to get my grandson or anyone else out of the car.

Ok...this needs to a full complaint to NHSA to get this door handle issue addressed. For us, 2016 Sorento passenger door. Didn’t break off, but this is STILL A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/? file a complaint. you deserve a safe and functional vehicle. this is NOT A LUXERY item..not when public transportation is less than an American virtue. (country is too big with too much open area...and that's why we love it)

My 2016 Kia Sorento back set door handle on the drivers side broke off 10/26/20. handle is made of cheap plastic. I agree with you dkstanden, it is criminal to use plastics on a repetitive use import car part. Barry thanks for the link, because I did file a complaint, especially after seeing how often this is happening to people. Cosmetic my ass. That is nothing but a safety hazzard.

My daughter’s Kia (2017) rear passenger door handle just came off in her hand. You Would think they would of resolved this by now. Poor design and poor customers service.

KIA worked on my middle doors on a recall on a 2011 Kia Sorento. But they left my front doors locked, by saying there's no recall. I wonder why they did do such things like that; KIA should stand for their products. This doors latches issue is the worst nightmare I ever had. I will not buy any more Kia anymore; matter of fact, I am trying to sell it this vehicle. Every time I fix an issue, it comes up with a newer one. Nothing like Japanese vehicles.
