if you have a 97 raido wires are color coated simply tie into each color, unless you are swithing to another brand of raido.

That wasn't very helpful at all. Chances are he was putting in something different. I also need a wiring diagram for the 97 Elantra. I'm not only putting in a different brand stereo, but the previous owner cut the harness off when removing the old one. None of the diagrams I could find online are correct - they list the accessory power as either red or light green and mine, I found by testing is most definitely blue.

Most helpful, thank you! I got everything working this morning, Almost anyway. My red/black was not providing the constant so I tapped into the constant for the hazard light. This worked but, my clock is no longer on a constant either. It is somehow (weakly) only tied into accessory power. I can't help but think the radio constant needs to connect to the sames constant for the clock/dome light/ left side of instrument panel, and it must have a separate fuse than is what utas in tge fuse panel under the dash (all fuses good there). I have up for the moment, happy that the radio is working. I'll go back and try to make it right after a little break. Thanks for your help!
