Ok thank you, does the imobiliser circut have a fuse? if i got a mechanic out would he be able to do this on the drive as it currently has no tax or insurance hense why it wasnt being used

the imobiliser system is intergrated into the loom and ecu if your mechanic has a laptop and correct cables and software then he can do a master reset and your car should be a runner again main fuses are set in the engine bay fuse box i think it is a 30 ampare for the ecu

you could also try disconecting the battery for 15 mins and reconect it to try to force a reset

If it were the security the motor would spin it just wouldnt start

Hi thank you for all your advice the mechanic who came out changed a small purple fuse and bingo it worked! The radio still isnt on but he said he will sort that on a later date as its behind the dash and he came out foc and fixed it foc so now i will always use his garage so when hes got time i will call in for him to sort the radio But thanks for all your advice much appreciated Cheryl

I have a 2010 for focus that wont start either, brand new battery, all lights come on dash lights up, car just wont turn over. I heard something about the anti theft system, does anybody have any information please.

I have the same issue 4 weeks after a flood. I have correct voltage at the battery to my grounds to my starter to my relay to the signal cable that goes from the relay to starter And nothing. I found out that under the hood there's a fuse spot 19 its missing and has 1 prong in it. That prong has power.. but nothing in the slot next to it.. i have replaced everything BUT the fuse boxes(under the hood and in tbd car).. and Google sucks ass when trying to find a fuse lay out.May i add my clutch sensors are fine since i have signal going to the starter. And ignition is totally fine. Does anyone know what Fuse 19 is under the hood for a 2010???

Problem solved: We had the same/similar problem. It would start just fine, then, then randomly not start. All the relays were working, had a good battery etc.. I decided the starter was the problem, started to pull it out and found that the mounting bolts were loose! They were just loose enough to prevent the starter from grounding to the engine block. I tightened them up and BAM! Starter problem solved. It's been at least 2 months with no phantom problems.

This happened to my 2014 ford focus. I turn the key nothing. No noises.. Then i turned it again it started, then few days after it wouldn't start. So i had it jumped, then the horn doesnt work or key fob doesnt make beep noise when locked. Checked fuse, still doesnt work. When you press horn makes click noise.

I have sort of the same problem I have a 2002 it's the wife's car it only does it in the summer but she will drive it to the store fine come back out won't start than after about 15 or 20 mins it will start up just fine any opinions on what it could be?

its been a week horn had no sound, then the next day the car wouldn't start we got a jump did what we needed too shut the car off, next morning car wouldn't start again so we bought a new battery, still the next day car wouldn't start so we had it jumped and drove it to a shop they told us it was the alternator so we got a new one, car worked next morning car didnt work so we had the car towed to the shop and they said the horn wire was touching a ground wire and the car was fixed, next morning wouldn't start again, now the dash is saying we are having a steering issue....we hooked up the machine no codes came up with any issues....we need some help something is draining the power

2003 2.3L sports SE model. Not like a 2.0 engine at all. Same slow cranking. Will start with good juice to it. Battery tested 14 volts so have to guess a relay or wire issue? Will replace the battery due to it still being 5 years old and maybe running it holds alt. power at 14. Starter new so ruled out. Any other freak ideas that worked? I also heard wiggling the key and push into the steering column.

just fixed my 2014 ford focus. it was not starting and had no power in the cab. turned out to be a loose connection on the passenger side fuse box. the fuse box is in a really kickable place underneath the glove box.

It's the TCM modal that needs replacing Same happened to me and I was told it was the immobiliser. Had it diagnosed cost Jan the thousands and send car to ford to fix... Beware the power steering will go next ... My focus is a statue in the car park and goes nowhere....

Regarding 2016 Ford Focus SE, I have this issue where it is not the battery. The Battery is good power is excellent. But when I turn the key car will not start. So what I do in these situations is get a jump start it works fine for some time. Than here we go again it happens again car won't start. It is rather odd, the wipers move, the back wipers move, lights flash inside the vehicle. I already had a clutch have to be replaced, the worst part is the car just recent had a check engine light that went on than disappeared and said Transmission Failure in Red. That image went away. It definitely is getting cold out so now I am highly concerned, I just don't understand Ford Motor company spoke with Customer Service no help not with management regarding buy back vehicle. Listen people beware with this make model I only have 29,000 about and got it in very low mileage getting this checked by dealership pronto make sure you have warranty this car is questionable.

It sounds like the problem is it's a Ford. I'm not doging you I own 3 focuses a fusion and a navigator. Just have to learn how to fix them.

My 2013 focus has been doing the no start thing for two years. Ford is no help. They know that some of the focus are bad and yet they would buy them back. I was told because there are many still out there that are running fine. If that is the case then let the CEO drive my car for 6 months. Then we will see if it is still ok.

Been reading all the post & seems like this is a big Ford problem. I have a 2018 Figo reversed it, so that I can give it a wash & time to park it properly & the car won't start.

My car will not start with a boost now and it's been siting at ford since last November and they told me it had something to do with a clutch my car is automatic so no clutch in my car and they wanted 2700. I just went the other nite to try and boost my car and it wouldn't boost I emailed the benton fry ford and they said that my car never started or never ran when t got there they said it had no power when it did it had lots of power just it would only go in reverse, and wouldn't go in park and nutural and S for simulator standard so pretend standard . But ford said in the email it wasn't running when got there at there shop that's a lie because it was running and now all of a sudden it isn't .I donno what to do about this matter do I call head ford canada and also maybe I might buy a battery and see if it is the battery but this is ford's mistake and I as a customer I shouldn't have to pay for something they did they made my car how it is they made it so it wouldn't turn on . Please help me out what I should do

This is frightening, my 2012 Focus won't start today for the first time no sound just clicks. It was MOT'D three days ago and passed. I'm on furlough and can't pay any more car bills so I'm looking at walking to work for a few months if this is mirroring all your comments. It sounds to me like this should be highlighted on TV.

My ford focus 2012 will not start unless i disconnect then reconnect battery terminals. I plugged-in a car charger with voltmeter in my car to see the voltage when a NO START occurs. 12.2V+ the car starts. I turn off everything like aircon, radio etc, charge car for a while before turning car off to make sure that battery has enough juice for the next start. I can sometimes do this 2 times, or 4 times without STARTING ISSUE. Then the strangest thing happened. I turn off engine with a charged battery and all, i tried starting the car, it won't start. It will click once or twice and there will be movements and sounds on my dashboard that I understand would indicate low battery voltage but NO START. And when I check the voltmeter, it shows 11-11.5V sometimes 11.9V. It will only start when I disconnect and reconnect both battery terminals. And whenever I do this, the shows 12.2V+ again. Please note that I just bought a new battery because I thought it was a simple battery problem. It turns out it is kot and my mechanic cannot figure out what is wrong with my car. He said my alternator is charging fine. My battery is new. Car runs fine when I get it to start so I assume it is not the starter or the ignition switch. So what is causing the problem and how to fix it?

2014 Ford Focus SE with 68,000 miles and garaged in evening. New battery, new starter, new starter and ignition relays. No start in park or neutral. No codes and everything on dash works. Intermittent no start still. Incredibly frustrating. Of course that is after multiple flashes of dual clutch. I'd like to say I can rely on my Chev Impala but guess what...not. Done with domestic brand vehicles. Dealership service only too happy to send you out the door with problem that rears its head two weeks later in a Minnesota winter! Used buyers beware!
