Hi enzo144, The real question is does it have to be? Although I don't live in California I would check with your local DMV to find what the current laws are regarding this year/make/model vehicle. You may not have to go through the trouble. Hope this helps!

They usually have to be fine tuned to pass Cal emission. If in doubt have a Porsche expert check it. Stay away from the average mechanic because they have no clue about the 1976 Porsche. I have been down that road before. Where are you located?

Yes the 912E can be smog fed in California. My car has passed every year since I bought it new. It only has 28,000 miles now. The exhaust system rusted out about 4 years ago. The shop got a new one from some where and I had it ceramic coated inside and out. At the last smog check the car did well. Great car!
