Lower radiator hose hits belt

no shield or bracket, more than probley a wrong bottom raidor hose,if you get a new hose todays hoses are a cut to fit hose, made longer and the bends in hose may be a little different than stock. When replacing just make sure to keep hose away from pully,if close you can twist it some to clear.
you might want to check your engine mounts too andy ubmracing.com
We got it to clear the pully but its to close for comfort, I think we're going to shorten the length on the pully bely to get some aditional clearance. Thanks for the reply we did trim the hose a little to move the bend.
The mounts apear solid we dumped the clutch to stall it out and I was surpised to see such little movement in an engine, The car is solid no doubt. Thanks for the reply!!.
Change your motor mounts. They may appar to be strong and not allow the motor to move much but they distort and that is what causes the alternator to cut up that hose, very common issue on these cars. so much so BMW later redesigned the coolant hose layout.
E30 325i's have a couple of brackets to prevent this issue. If you don't have them in the car use a couple of plastic gaskets to tie the hose and prevent the problem. You might as well chek the thermostat to water pump hose on the front of the engine, that hose tends to be bitten by the fan, again if you don't have the original clip use plastic gasket, cheap and effective solution. Good luck!
