Cold start problem

Asked by cathyp Mar 04, 2008 at 05:26 PM about the 1993 BMW 3 Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why does my BMW 93/4 320 24 valve refuse to start on really cold mornings but is OK when warm? The immobiliser has been removed so it's not that.

Coil pick-up, Something is not telling your coil to "spark". It could be the Coil pick-up, the coil itself or even the crank sensor. I would start there, but you might want to take it to a mechanic, as to just replace these parts will cost a bit, and the mechanic can test each unit.
