Rubber Guard Strips

Asked by Skyellor Jun 03, 2019 at 10:10 PM about the 2002 BMW 3 Series

Question type: Car Customization

My car (BMW 320i 2002) has those black rubber guard strips wrapped around
the whole body. Is there any way to remove them or at least make them the
same paint colour of the car? Really hate the way they look. :(

A paint/body shop could match the color and paint just the strips, might not be a perfect match but it'll be close. I'm sure those strip are only held in place with an adhesive backing but it won't come off easy, and the finish will be marred where they were. If you remove them you would likely have more paint and body work to do then just repainting them in place.

I've had vinyl molding strips painted and they've held up well. I don't know if your strips are vinyl or rubber, a shop should be able to advise you on type of paint to use.
