Bmw 7 series reliability

Most people want to believe that, the BMW are cars that are designed for higher speeds. When the car is used in start and go traffic they don't seems to hold up well.

How do you know that your beliefs of BMW supremacy are more valid than the "stupid" claims of unreliability? Do you have any data to back up your opinion?

The 7 is a hit or miss, you can a good or you could get a bad one...

In my opinion you are on the fence, I would just skip this car and get something else....it seems you have a lot of concerns with the car. I think you need to get something like a Peugeot 207

Peugeot is probably the worst car you can buy. Still these answers are hypothetical and not facts. Any car that is not looked after will be unreliable. I am looking at low km with dealer service history. And for instance the one i am looking at the guy wants to swap aswell for another bmw. If he had a bad experiance would he want to do so? The engine in the 2006 had updated valve seals as well. So not the same faults as the 2002. And the main problem with early 7 series is the service because bmw said they did not have to have a service for 30000km it was too long and the motor suffered. I have been told with a regular service the car will last a long time. If the car was so bad how are they still driving around and how are they still being sold? Everyone said the same for a mitsubishi magna. And hyundai excel but they keep going and going without any problems.

The claims of unreliability are pretty stupid. Just because you need to change your oil every 5,000 miles does not make a car unreliable. Do your research, check out bimmerfest.com and bimmerforums.com and read up on that specific 7 series. When you find one you would like to purchase, go over it carefully, even get a pre-purchase inspection done. BMWs are great cars, but some can be hit or miss as far as how much maintenance they need. And I'm talking about individual cars, not a specific model.

No one is suggesting that the requirement of an oil change every 5k miles is unreasonable; what a wonderful strawman argument! Try looking at large-sample surveys and seeing what you find (not the echo chamber of those already indoctrinated into the BMW faith).

Hey, I'm just going by my personal experience and observations. I'm not some BMW loyalist fanboy.

The E 66 and the E 65 are some good cars if you stay in the state that does not offer non- ethanol gasoline leave the 7-series alone it has nothing to do with oil change when it comes down to the Val stem’s trust me people ethanol will kill these cars it dries up the whole system I have a 2004 and I call Germany myself .. 91 grade gasoline only and that car will last for generations long

And not just the 7-series all BMWs from the first generation BMWs all the way up until 2015 . No ethanol

i am using 735i for 9 years, excellent car and already clocked 250,000km, still going strong. But recently start giving problem when i start using less due to my traveling. Now parts are cheap and easy to get.

I own a 1993 740i and it has never let me down.
