2011 AUDI broken fuel pump enquiry

AUDI A4 2011 FUEL PUMP HAS BROKEN UP INSIDE AND METAL
FILINGS HAVE BEEN SEEN IN THE PUMP  AND MECHANIC TELLING ME
THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED INC THE
INJECTOR PUMP, FUEL RAIL, FUEL FILTER, TIMING BELT KIT, 4 X
INJECTORS, IN TANK PUMP AND THE FUEL LINES AND TANK HAVE TO
BE REMOVED AND CLEANED AS THE FILINGS HAVE TRAVELED
THROUGHOUT THE FUEL SYSTEM. ANYONE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AS
IT APPEARS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR

The fuel lines between the pump and fuel filter will need to be cleaned out with compressed air. The fuel pump, obviously, will need to be replaced, and the fuel filter. That's why they put a fuel filter in the fuel system. To protect the fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, etc. from dirt and debris. Hope that helps! Jim
