What can I do if the dealer rips me off by selling me a lie

Asked by Guru9CC528 Jul 23, 2021 at 05:36 PM about the 2011 RAM 2500

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

Dealer told me that it just came out of the shop and all it needed was miner
repairs. come to find that the turbo charger was broken, they had taken out the
front chasee so instead of a 4x4 its a 2 wheeler.  There was no oil in the engine
(NO OIL) we had to put in 10 liters of oil. now he is refusing to give me my
money back!!! Come on this is ridiculous. Can you help in any way?

If you are in the United States most States have a cooling off period law for major purchases like a house or vehicle. Check with your local Office of Consumer Affairs and see what the law is where you live. Your local police department may be able to tell you as well. If you are within the time frame and you can prove you notified the Dealer (email, text message etc.) that you changed your mind and you don't want the vehicle they have to take it back and refund your money. Hope that helps! Jim

Not sure how many states allow you to return a car after you buy it. Not many according to my research. Some states like mine allow you to BUY a short term return window. Returning new cars would result in the dealer taking a loss of thousands of dollars because the new car would now be a used car. I would approach this issue from a fraud standpoint as the dealer sure as heck knew the truck was no longer a 4x4.
