How sensitive is the electronic system on a Prius?
I just bought a 2011 Prius and wish I had thought to ask the following: Will my cell phone affect the electronic key system if it is close to the "key"? If I fly, will TSA allow me to carry my electronic key system on the plane? And, most importantly, I have lots of elderly relatives---Can someone with a pacemaker safely ride in a Prius?

Im sure the automaker has thought about these things. alot of new cars have push button start and I have heard nothing about cell phones affecting key operation. I dont know anyone with a pacemaker but im sure they can ride in a and new vehicle without harm.

I do not believe the magnetic and electrical fields to be any more than being close to your clothes dryer, or any other household electrics~

you are good to go. i''ve been posed that question on more than one occasion from customers that i have installed remote car starters, security systems, and sound systems in their vehicles. It's not going to hurt anything. When they design new vehicles that do actually run tests to check those types of things. enjoy your new car.
