my ford taurus dies when idling, what could be the problem

when putting in gear i have to keep giving it gas. there is a loud grinding of metal
sound.after i drive it i can put it in park and it wont die but still dies putting in gear and
idling in gear. i have made sure the oil, gas and coolant are ok as well as the belts being
fine and changed the cilanoid

Yes I sounds like the torque converter in the transmission is staying locked in or broken motor mounts letting the engine slam back and forth.
