Just stop at a shop and have someone look to see if there is a AC compressor under the hood. But your car may not have one. If there is a AC compressor, then it probably just needs to be serviced. If not you'll have to find another car with AC.

I own a Hyundai Accent that actually didn't even come with A/C, just purchased it. It's the most pared down no frills base model. If you have the same model you simply don't have an air conditioner at all, Hyundai excluded it (along with even a stereo in some of them) just to save pennies. You can get one installed after market though, usually for about $500-$700, about $250 if you do it yourself. In the mean time if you don't have the money on hand there are also small cooling units you can get that will plug into the cigarette lighter that are inexpensive to hold you over.
