2012 Sonata battery issues

Asked by GuruDPX7B Sep 13, 2017 at 01:00 AM about the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently, I took my 2012 Sonata to work and after
a few hours on the job site, I tried to start the car,
but the battery appeared to be dead. I got a jump
start andbthe car started right up, along with this
annoying beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee......... that
thankfully is low in volume. After parking at home,
turned the car off, then tried to restart it, and it did.
I shut the car off, and wanting to save the juice i
managed to charge back into the battery, I
disconnected the negative terminal from the
battery, and the beeeeeeeeeeeeeee is still coming
from somewhere inside the center panel, behind
the radio. After several hours, with the sound still
comming out of the car, i reconnected the battery,
and its dead again. What is causing the beeb. It
sounds like a,warning you get when somwthing is
left on and draining the battery. Any ideas?

the low volume may be it has been worn out from beeeeping forever, so it thinks a door or key is improper, it will shutdown if you make a disconnect ,why it didn,t when you pulled the neg. bat ??? look closer ,pull fuses till one kills, the beep. that's the circuit that's got the problem !!.seatbelt warning system maybe!

Jan 2020 I have a 2015 Sonata. Battery went dead on Wednesday. thought I had left door ajar. charged battery. Ok for 3 days then I left on a trip. Came back 8 days later, battery dead. Charged battery, started car. 16 volts at battery with car running-- Alternator is good. I put amp meter between battery & car. Meter showed 1/2 amp drain. pulled all fuses, one by one. Meter still showed 1/2 amp drain. this will kill battery Talked to Hyundai service guy. Got load of BS, he says not unusual to replace battery at 5 yrs IN SOUTHERN CALIF??? Maybe in Minnesota. By Dodge Van battery lasted 10 yrs. I think it is in the basic design. You can spend a lot of money & still not find the reason. (I am an Electrical Engineer)
