2012 Malibu Randomly cut off, and will turn over But wont start

Does tachometer move while cranking? Does engine light go off while cranking or stay on?

Probably the position sensor pickup ... it's usually located with the ignition unit. Look for a 2 wire connector with wires running down the back of the engine ... when they intermittently fail like yours ... it will drive you nuts .... mine had the wires melted because it was too close to the exhaust manifold ... it would work then cut out then work again

Ism having the sam EXACT issue with my 2010 Malibu LT I don’t know why this is happening. When the car drives it’s perfect but when it cuts off it will turn over but not start. We’re you able to get this problem resolved?

Its the fuse block in the trunk my to be replaced thay short out and can melt the plastic in the fuse block wier ur fuses and relays go in thats mostly common in Malibu s. .. Look thier is u plyed around with that and it stated up now irt wont is cuse it shorted out and melted the fuse block trust me. Id look thier that controls other thing it happins alot cuse pepole use thier cigar liter out lite for charging thoer phones or for other things and that can cas a load on your fuse block .look thier.

Id start pepole at looking in the trunk and look at ur fuse box and look at the progs take outthe fuse box and diconet the fuse box but ferst disconnet battry ferst thwn take ur fuse box out that in ur trunk and look at ur progs and look for melted plastic my advice ..

only 2 things come to mind ..i is the anti -theft ,,however the anti-theft is deactivated once the car is in motion so a good chance the cam position sensor pickup ... it's usually located under the hood toward the back of the engine with the ignition unit. ive had my camshaft senors fixed the whole fuse box replaced and im still having these same issues the dealership hasnt even been able to fix it !!!!

Try the run relay also located in the trunk or the throttle body itself. I had the same problem myself. I hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue, had the camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor replaced. Fixed it for 2 weeks and started doing it again. Call GM and report this problem. Something needs recalled on this car

I’m having the same issue. I just had the cam shaft sensor replaced, then it died. Had the engine control module replaced, reset my computer, ran for a week then died again. Shop ran it for a code but nothing showed up. They said it could be the theft system so I had that reset. Today and was told it’s running fine again.. let’s see how long this lasts before I have to have it towed for a 3rd time.

My wifes car is doing the same thing I've changed oxygen sensors throttle body and fuel pump and still stalling

Started having issues with my starting my car/ keeping in started. Would sound like it’s about to start up like usual but after about 2 seconds the car will start shaking and shut off. Would have to go to the back trunk, start taping on the fuse box located back there and would started up right away after that. Noticed after awhile it would take me a little more then just taping on the fuse box to get it started and my relay for my fuel pump would get burning hot. After I had to start moving around the wires back there to get it started which gave me the conclusion to slide that fuse box out and see if there was a bad connection. Sure enough there’s a little gray wire connecting to where the fuel pump relay is and it’s showing signs of being burnt. Need to replace that wire and your issue should be fixed

Try to check fuel pump relay grey wire in the fuse box located in the left rear trunk. Lot of time the wire is partially burnt causing the intermittent cuts off and won't start.
