Why isnt my 1996 v6 mustang not grabbing speed ?

I step on the gas and it takes about 30 seconds to get up to 30 and it wont go much
faster then that

Check engine light on? How long since last good tune up? Did this just start all the sudden - maybe right after buying gas?
