Battery light

Asked by GuruT9NNP Jun 09, 2018 at 03:58 AM about the 2012 Dodge Journey

Question type: General

My battery light came on when I was driving my
car. I was 40 minutes away from home. Soon after
the light came on the radio turned off and wouldn't
power back on. A little bit later the abs light came
on and a bunch of other lights on the dashboard.
My car wouldn't drive out of low drive the rmps
were up into between 4 and 5. My head lights and
interior lights never dimmed. I pulled over turned
off the car, and it wouldnt turn back on.  I've had
alternator problems in past vehicles, and its not
acting like any of the problems Ive had in the past.
Its the original battery.  Could the battery just be
the problem?

This exact thing just happened to my 2014 Dodge Journey r/t. After changing the battery the battery light went out but the battery saver mode is still displaying. I see where others are saying its the alternator. I have not driving it since changing the battery. Did you resolve your same issue?

The last time that happened in my 2012 Dodge Journey it required the PCM to be replaced. GuruT9NNP that is called the battery saver mode and that is connected to the Body control module and the power control module.

My 2017 Journey did the same thing yesterday. It’s currently in the shop.

Same problem here already replaced the battery and the alternator. I am hoping the control module will be the fix. Dodge Journey hates the cold and acts up quite a bit in the winter, so plug your lemon in overnight. This has to be one of the worst cars dodge has produced.

I have a 2014 dodge journey cross road 3.6 the battery light and Battery saver mode came on changed the battery and alternator the wife drive the vehicle the battery light check engine light and battery saver mode came on. It shut down and wouldn’t start back up got it towed to a shop they got it to charge the battery and 4 days latter the same problem happened. Half the fuses weren’t in completely which took care of the check engine light. Don’t understand how it would charge the battery up and 4 days latter not charge it, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what colour of the tipm I can put a wire to the alternator to act as a bypass Thank you
