Ford ranger starter

I'm trying to make a 1997 starter work on my 1996
ford ranger. What can i do?

Are you saying your having a problem installing it? Did you know that Rangers in that time frame, the starter motors can be used from both years, but are dependent on what engine and transmission you have. So there are six different starters the can be bought or used. One for the 2.3L, the 3.0L and the 4.0L engines and manual or automatic transmission dependent. Is the starter you have from the same engine that is in your vehicle? If not, you need to buy another.
