96 Ford Taurus has 2 problems HELP

Ok so it doesn't like to start in park anymore we
have to switch it to neutral??? What is going on
with my car and if I sit for to long with little to slide
movement it sometimes asks like it's almost
choking and shuts off but the power is still on???
SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Neutral safety switch is defective. Have it scanned for codes at a local autoparts store. This is usually a free service. Post the trouble codes here on the forum.
