Hyundai Accent 2013

Asked by Kathryn Aug 26, 2016 at 02:54 PM about the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Hyundai Accent 2013 and I went
on vacation for two weeks and left it
parked on an  incline .  Came home and it
reads that it's out of gas and now the gas
light is flashing plus the check engine light
came on .  Is it safe to fill up with gas at
this point ?  Also the mileage has gone
blank and flashing . Also I can't remember
if my model is the GS or GLS

I'd fill it up and see what happens. Have you started it and is it running normally?

I moved it about 500 feet or so that's about it . It seems to work normal except everything flashing . Wanted to make sure it was safe to put gas back in under these circumstances

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery may reset things. Also is it possible that mice chewed on the wiring while you were away?

It was outside and not in an enclosure . It's a possibility . Give me a little bit and I'll let you know what's up from filling the tank

I doubt that filling the tank will correct the other issues.

I'm not really a car person so I hate to ask this but is it OK to just disconnect the negative side and it will reset or will I also have to on connect the positive side as well for it to reset ?

One side is fine and the negative side is safest.

Well I finally got a ride to get 5 gallons of gas which my car only holds ten. It started to over flow so I stopped. Seeing as I still had half a tank is resetting the battery the answer or to the shop?
