First car 2013/14 BMW 535; 550 or 2014 Audi A6 - value for money

From a resale value the BMW hands down on the Audi I have attended many auctions to confirm that lol. Now on the first car thing you are looking into a great driving car in the BMW turbo and V8 (turbo better) full of power and features I have bought and sold many. A CPO or "certified" from a BMW dealer is a great option if you are looking at the 535 or 550 because they do have their known problem areas as any car does but the certification takes car of that. If looking at a non-certified PLEASE buy a 528 or even a 330xi. Those straight 6 cyl engines are built to last I bought one for my own father! Hope that helps.

I have a friend who races BMW's but drives Audi's. In his words the Audi is flashier than the BMW, but it will not hold a candle to the BMW on a race course including maintenance and parts. First always start with as low amount of miles as you can find or able to afford. If possible have the car looked at by an independent third party that specializes in BMW's before buying the car. Stay away from any V-8 or "M" products unless you are capable of heavy repairs yourself. These are going to cost you big bucks for maintenance or repairs. If you can work on these your self, they aren't as bad for the cost of parts if you shop around. The V-8's are just a pain to do certain things when the a 3.5 L is fast enough to get you tickets. My personal preference, unless you live in the snow belt stay away from the X drives most people do not need 4 wheel drive. Dealer certified does not mean anything unless they are going to give you some type of warranty along with the car. I have several BMW's my favorite is a 530i with a JPZ engine and 6 speed manual. It is quick, rides well and gets good mileage. The only thing I do not like is the specific M54 model engine. It was only in the early 2000's Even BMW realized how bad that engine was. When it runs, it runs good, but requires a bunch of extra needed maintenance and if you miss any you will be rebuilding the engine from the bottom up. Good Luck.
