I am looking to buy a car and believe I have found one to purchase. I do
wonder if there is a grace period in which I can take the vehicle to a mechanical
for inspection to ensure all is in working order. Please let me know if/how I may
be covered as a customer.

Work it out with the seller, there is no "grace period". If they will not let you take it to a mechanic then walk. They can always meet you at your mechanic if you like.
