should I change both O2 sensors?

Asked by GuruDXJ5NX Nov 03, 2024 at 12:21 AM about the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was told I had to change both O2 sensor's on my car but when I changed the
primary sensor at the mainfold it fixed the the problem, is it important to change
the secondary one at the same time?

Only if the live data shows a problem with it. Rear O2 sensors seem to last a lot longer than front ones.

No, it's not necessary. The secondary, or downstream, oxygen sensor is only there to monitor the catalytic converter. It doesn't have anything to do with running the engine and it doesn't work with the primary, or upstream, oxygen sensor in any way. Jim
