my 1986 560 sel rear leveling hydraulic shocks have went downand the car is almost riding on the tires .whats wrong?

several issues are possible. Either the air pump that powers them has failed. Maybe the sensors in the shocks have failed. Or the shocks are leaking. Continuing to drive like this could result in much more costly repairs.
this system is not complex simple you first have to check the bellows for hydrogen bladder failure is remove the large nut on the bottom and use a soft round stick the is not sharp to see how far you can stick it in if it goes way to far the rubber bladder has ruptured and the accumulator will need to be replaced check the other side the same way if bladder is ruptured replace it with the rear hydraulic shocks look for leaks round the top and around the hydraulic line then the adjustment regulator box and the adjustment arm to see if rusted really bad and the thing is be really careful this system is under a lot of pressure and you can get hurt really easy if not careful and make sure you have a large rag to catch the fluid it is very slippery hydraulic fluid
