I have a 1989 Reatta and the IPC is completely blank. Twice in very hot weather the IPC came on but when I turned off the key and turn back on goes blank and won't work. I would like to know, is there

Question type: General

I removed the dash and traced the entire dash harness for problems found
some repair work had been done by jumping the harness bridge I repaired it but
IPC still blank. No power going to the 110 converters. fuses, relays all good no
codes Cathode Ray Tube works as does Radio and Climate. Is there a way I
can test the IPC?

Fuse #5 feeds the IPC via the central power supply. since you have checked all the fuses, the easiest thing to do is get a used IPC. The good news it is the same as a Riviera (more Riviearas in salvage yards than Reattas) 1986-1989 Riv look the same but get one as close to 1989 as possible. Sometimes just unplugging the IPC cleaning the terminals and reinstalling will bring it back, but you probably have a bad connection on one of the PC boards somewhere that has opened. BBA reman in Taunton MA repairs the 1990 IPC but don't think they do the 1989 and earlier. You could call them and ask 866-573-2740

You can also try this Reatta discussion group. Several people there may have spare units. http://forums.aaca.org/forum/11-buick-reatta/

I found a used IPC for $25.00 and using it and my old IPC I was able to make one good one. The IPC now works but can't get fuel gage to register. Another problem to solve.
