ignition will not turn off

I WOULD START BY DISCONECTING BATTERY TERMINALS IT SHOULD SHUT OFF TILL YOU CAN TROUBLE SHOUT PROBLEM

Can you turn the key to the OFF position or is it stuck? If the key is stuck, you will probably need to replace the lock asm. If you can turn the key to the OFF position and the car continues to run then the problem is with the electrical part of the switch....which is located down the steering column by the pedals it may be out of adjustment.

unhooking battery does not stop engine as alt' still provides electricity. but that is how to check alt' ...if putting out. pull pos. terminal, if dies... alt' bad.
