Jeep Running Hot

Asked by GuruBDXJ5 Dec 06, 2018 at 06:20 PM about the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: General

New radiator, new hoses(top and bottom),
new intake gasket. Drove two days after
replacing all if that, sat idle in traffic, gauge
going towards hot. Driving it went back to
normal. Got it home. Started it up this
morning, white smoke coming out pipe like
before replacements, drove not even a mile,
gauge going towards hot again. Got it back
home and parked it.

That's just it, mechanic looked at all of that and determined head or block wasn't cracked. He initially thought head gasket was blown but once he got in there, said all I needed was a intake gasket and radiator. Only drove it three days after mechanic returned it to me and it was fine. Fourth day, this happened

Wow, you think so? Would a well experienced mechanic make a mistake like that? I hope that's it. If it wasn't cracked or warped, I don't think it could have happened after I drove it
