How do you know when you blow an engine?

Asked by William Oct 20, 2020 at 07:06 AM about the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my way to work this morning, my cla 220 cdi made
noise in the engine area af if something had blown, the car
immediately released a heavy white smoke from
everywhere that i couldn't see anything behind the car.

I parked on the side and noticed that i was losing all the oil
in the vehicle and the engine light came on, however the
engine was still on.

How do you know when you blow eighter the turbo or
engine?
