Will a transmission from a 1995 jeep cherokee fit and work in a 1997 jeep cherokee

I have found a transmission to put in my 97
jeep cherokee but theres one problem im
not sure if it will fit and work as it is a
transmission out of a 95 model jeep
cherokee so any suggestions will it work
and if not why ??

I put a 96 on a 98 what I had to do was take the sensors and wiring harnesses off my 98 and put them on the 96 it wasn't that hard. But needless to say I have had it for 3 years now after the fact and still runs and shifts great. I went to autozone.com and looked up transmissions for both of mine and they both were the same

I took a 01 wh grand Cherokee and out it in my 97 Grand Cherokee zj if it the 42re it will fit promise
