My 2014 Nissan Altima Key fob wont lock/ unlock doors.

Asked by Shalinaranae Feb 12, 2019 at 09:45 PM about the 2014 Nissan Altima

Question type: General

I replaced my 2014 Nissan Altima key fob
battery. It will let me start the car and
manually unlock it holding down the button
but it won’t lock, unlock or open the trunk.
Do I need to reprogram it? If so how do I do
that?

Mine is doing the same thing. They put two different batteries in and it will start the car and let me get in by holding the door button. The dealer said it has to be reprogramed and so will the key my husband uses. They want my car for 1 to 1 1/2 hrs and $150 to program it. I hate push start systems.

Have you tried to reprogram the fob by using the key in the door lock or if your Nissan model has a hidden key ignition try that. Should reset back after you turn the car off and reinsert the key into the fob

My son had this same exact issue with his 2015 Nissan Altima. He left the car running while quickly grabbing something out the house and his doors locked and he couldn't get in his car. Replacing the battery in the fob didn't help but following GURUPS7L5 instructions surely did. The key fob reset and started working like normal again.

Thank you GuruPS7L5. I experienced the failure of the keyfob to lock the driver door yesterday on my 2015 Altima. I did not replace the battery. But when finished with my business at that location, I used the hidden key to manually lock and unlock the door. I then held the fob close to the Start button while starting the car. When I got home the keyfob locked all the doors. Thank you!

My brother has same issue with his 2016 Altima after replacing the key fob. his problem though is that his doors and trunk do not have key slots (all keyless entries) so he cannot use the physical key he was given. any suggestions short of towing the car?
