I have a 96 Jeep grand cherokee, how do you change the quadra trac to a regular 4 wheel drive instead of all wheel drive? Do you just switch the transfer case?

I believe there is a wiring component as well as a drive/rear end component. It may not be possible to do this. You might try www.jeepforum or www.wranglerforum.com for specific information.
ha...it's not hard at all. Just get a NP231 or NP242. They bolt right up. Your speedo sensor will be the same, but might run into problems with your panel that shows you if you are in 4 wheel drive or not. When I did my 242 ->231 swap my wiring for that didn't cross over, but my tcase was from a yj
i was told that the np231j bults right up i have the samr year and am looking to do the same thing so if anyone knows for sure what one works and if there is any problems could u post tks
bump plz my dad and i have a all time 4x4 97ish larado that we want to make selectable 4x4 and full 2x4. i got info on np231-np242 xfer case swaping from reading this forum but im wondering if one would have wire issues and the other would be direct swap? any info on this subject or a link to where its already been discussed would be very appreciated.
