You are looking for opinions so my two cents worth: there are so many things to look at besides engine, tranny & brake hoses....here's a list off the top of my head....exhaust,tires,brakes (that's a lot more than hoses).body.suspension,belts,rad,how well does it start,;conversion items could include propane lines,appliances,toilet,etc.. How does it feel when you take it for a test drive (shimmy?shake? etc.) ; will it pass what ever government safety certification requirements,is the title clear,I'm getting tired of typing.
just trying to give him his own light bulb. A mechanic for the vehicle absolutely; but, you can also get into expensive fixes in the camper equipment that an auto mechanic might not be into. You can call in an electician to check the wiring in your house ;but, what about the tell tale signs of termites or plumbing problems. You are buying a cottage on wheels.
And depending where you are from- you can get carpenter ants or termites in the wood parts.
that's what I hope Adam realizes.
