I cant help you, but I have a questions, my latch broke and the dealer said if I cant find the spring, I have to order a whole new console for $400! Where did you get the replacement part with a spring?

******I recommend putting a blanket over the console opening while you work - I dropped the spring 5-6 times before I got the latch on correctly. You don't want to lose the spring or spend time looking for it when it pops out.*** (I sat in the passenger seat so 'left' is the passenger side and 'right' is driver side) Looking at the open console, you'll see a small opening hole on the bottom left. The longer side of the spring fits in there. The short end of the spring should be on the inner side of the latch longer sprocket. I had to place the spring (on the longer sprocket) so the short end of the spring fit in between the wall (where the base of the sprocket is molded to the latch) and the tiny space between the small box. Here's where you need to be patient and nimble - put the longer end of the spring into the hole while keeping the short end in the latch. You should feel some resistance as you slide the sprocket into the notch. Gently push the right side into its notch.

Thank you. It worked perfectly, once I understood the spring was supposed to slide over the long post with the short end on the latch and the long in through the hole in the arm rest.

Virtual beers for all! Thanks for posting this. Essentially, that darn spring cost me $87 after buying the whole lid at an auto salvage. Installed it in 5 mins. I’m just glad the lid shuts now.

This is the best!!! Done in one minute after reading this posting !! The spring goes on the passenger side and insert that side first. You will see a slight indent on the driver side so the small post can be pressed in firmly. I saved the spring luckily when mine broke bought the handle on eBay $11.

Spring and latch both are available on EBay. Price for the spring is ridiculous as seller is taking advantage of dealer is not selling spring. To install there is a nice video on YouTube. Not to drop and loose spring, I put masking tape on spring and latch to hold spring in latch. Insert spring end first in arm rest, left side and last right side. Will not drop Sand loose spring. Masking tape will not stop function of spring. Was able to finish it in 30 seconds.

Thank you everyone who has contributed to this thread. I was about to spend a small fortune on a new console since the dealership said they do not sell just the spring. I came across this forum and bought a spring from one of the links. The one I bought was from https://www.ebay.com/itm/402034125625. The spring worked perfectly. Thanks again!

I have the spring but can not fing a replacement latch...the piece that the spring goes onto and not the top piece that is screwed into the actual arm rest. Does anyone know where i can buy the attachable black latch piece? Joe

The latch they have plenty of it's just the spring they don't carry. Good luck.

Very helpful. Since the holes are stationary and the plastic legs that go in the holes are stationary, how do they go in both sides and stay?

So you put the side with the spring in first, passenger side, then you put the driver's side in. Its a tight fit on purpose. If you look close you can see a channel that the pin slides in on the driver's side. You have to push a little hard and it will snap into place. Trust me once it's in there's no getting it back out, I tried. They make it like that on purpose so it doesn't come out again, unless of course it breaks. Hope that helps.

Question about the spring. For the long part of the spring that goes into designated slot, is there a tiny hole inside the slot for the spring to stay snugged in? Or is it just a slot and the long part of the spring can be placed any way in that slot? I think I was able to install the spring and the latch correctly but when I try to close it, the latch doesn’t stay locked onto the console when it goes into the slot to keep it closed. The lid flies open still. I’m thinking there isn’t enough pressure or resistance from the latch to keep it snugged in the slot to keep the lid closed. How do I fix this? Is the problem the spring?

Thanks to all of you for your instructions and comments. This worked, literally, like a snap and took me less than 3 minutes to install. One key point is knowing the spring slips over the longer side peg.

https://youtu.be/lliBUsXS_v4 Quick and easy YouTube video of the complete installation. Shows correct spring placement and how to fit it into the console.

Thank you so much for the YouTube address. I purchased the plastic piece for $8. at the Acura dealer. After reading the comments I had saved the spring. I asked the dealer price for installation, it was $80.!!! I watched the YouTube video, twice, and was able to install myself. Thank you!

Amazon for cryin out loud Boys. Ebay is so slow, and who on Earth pays postage any more. Two days, free post, $10.64 tax included. And the seller gaves two springs in the package. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BR69HVG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
