Will pulling a 05 sedona sideways out of the mud damage the van?

Asked by ketch729 Oct 04, 2015 at 10:31 PM about the 2005 Kia Sedona

Question type: General

A friend got the front wheels of my 05 sedona stuck when they started to
go through my side yard which created very deep holes.

The tires were stuck so deep the towing service said they'd have to get the
van out of the holes to get enough traction to pull it out completely.

To do this they said they'd have to pull it from the side.  They attached the
wench underneath the back sliding door on the drivers side, pulled it part of
the way out before hooking it up in the front to pull it all the way.

I don't know what they hooked it to on the side, but does anyone know if
this could damage the van and if so what symptoms would I look for?

Thank you...Suzanne

First yes it can cause damage pulling sideways out of a hole.. It makes NO sense to winch from side to pull out. Sounds like an inexperienced tow-truck driver, maybe not severe damage but wheel alignment thrown off. A decent tow-truck can winch it out from the front or rear, lift the car up and out he was probably thinking it would drag his tow truck if he was in the same mud. Have the wheel alignment checked front and rear
