How many digits does the metric "Distance to next fill" display show?

Asked by Toodlelew May 14, 2015 at 06:23 PM about the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: General

I just purchased a 2015 Jetta Trendline+ TDI (Canada) and have noticed something strange with the "Distance to next fill" display.

When highway driving with a full tank, the "Distance to next fill" display creeps up from a number in the hundreds to 990km, then changes to 000km, and continues to climb from there, leveling off at about 120km (should be approx 1120km).

Is this expected? The VW dealership service people don't seem to know what I'm talking about.

It appears to me that the "Distance to next fill" only shows the low three digits of a (potentially) four digit number, dropping the thousands digit. Either this is "working as designed" or the display isn't lighting up that fourth digit.

Any ideas?

I am happy to run into someone who has questions about something as basic as this but is a mystery because the owners manual does such a dismal job of documenting this part of the vehicle. I have a 2015 Jetta 2.0L S (USA). Have you been able to get an explanation to date? What I feel is needed is a full documentation of the display and what it conveys.

The VW dealership has since told me that the "Range" display (distance to next fill) should show four digits on the metric display. That is, it should show 1200km, rather than 200km when warranted. So far, under warranty, they've updated the software, and replaced the instrumentation head, with no change in the display. And, yes, I can get around 1200km on a full (55L) tank of Diesel. I've asked the dealership to escalate, and contact VW, but haven't (yet) scheduled a return to the service centre.

I am trying to learn How to use the MFI . Can you tell what the following is: When I press the the Button 3X for setting the clock on the outside of the Tach a 3 digit number appears Press it again and another 3 digit number appears. What do these Numbers Mean.
