MY 15 DODGE JOURNEY WOULDN'T START

Asked by QUEEN_SHAUN May 15, 2017 at 08:54 AM about the 2015 Dodge Journey

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

MY JOURNEY HAS NOT GIVEN ME ANY ISSUES
UNTIL THIS MORNING WHEN WE WENT TO
START IT. EVERYTHING CAME ON BUT IT JUST
CLICKED WHEN WE TRIED TO START IT.
SOMEONE JUMPED US AND IT STARTED RIGHT
UP. THE BATTERY HASN'T BEEN REPLACED
SINCE I GOT IF BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT OF
AUGUST '15. SHOULD I REPLACE THE BATTERY?

I'd replace the battery and have a trusted mechanic take a look at the ignition/starter and transmission as it could be these are placing a higher demand on the battery if they were about to quit on you. When the vehicle is started, is it making any unusual noise that it wasn't making before? 2 years on an off brand battery is a goodly amount of time, so it is probably just the battery but it's always good to check up on things. How does it sound once started?

I'd have the battery tested. No reason to replace a 2 year old battery if it is still good. I would also have the charging system evaluated.

I agree with Bob, it could be the alternator isn't hanging the battery. This could be caused by your alternator being about to fail or your belt tensioner and pulley being about to go. How many miles do you have on the timing belt, as the tensioner and pulley are typically replaced when they do that job...

Our Joitney is doing the same thing. Lights came on radio excetra took it to the dodge dealership... That it could be the Win Module recall. Had that replaced. Still no start. Dealership just called me and told me my battery was completely Dead. So i pray that will fix the no start issue.
