Traction light — car with squiggly lines behind it.

Asked by Massey75 Dec 23, 2018 at 12:54 AM about the 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My daughter has a 2015 Volkswagen
Passat. A few days ago she took it in
for an oil change. When she left the
shop, or engine light came on. She
turned around and took it back to the
shop they reset it. I’m thinking all they
did was turn the light off they did not
fix whatever they did to cause it to
come on. So that’s my first concern.
Then today she noticed that her
traction symbol is lit up. The roads
are dry. We don’t have snow. So
there’s no reason for that to be on
right? What could be the problem?

Could be a faulty wheel speed sensor. Maybe they accidentally damaged a wire going to a wheels speed sensor. You need an ABS enabled sensor to read the trouble codes for traction control and ABS warning lights.
