If you suspect a mechanical problem, take it back to the dealer, being a 2015 you should still be under warranty. Otherwise consult your manual for operating procedures.

In the middle of a snow storm my 2014 Buick Encore (has about 40k miles on it) displayed "All Wheel Drive (AWD) OFF" on the display (this message flashed several times and I didn't see it again after I restarted my vehicle) Suddenly, going up a hill, my Encore turned into a FWD only vehicle!!! That was interesting. I made an appointment with my dealership (about 10 days later, the earliest appt I could get.) They couldn't find any codes but stated there is a software upgrade to reprogram the Rear Differential. They wanted to charge me because it wasn't covered under my limited warranty and I argued that I should NOT have to pay for something like this. This failure can actually cause an accident and in my case, almost did. Anyway, it was done and pushed through as warranty. Unbelievable.

In any car, with snow or ice, put your car in neutral, this will stop your wheels from turning, and you can right yourself by slowly applying the brakes. I have noticed living in S. Dakota the AWD on Encore does not help a whole bunch.... I had a Rav4 before and that little sucker dug in.
