Electrical Fire

Asked by Michael Nov 02, 2016 at 08:54 AM about the 1994 Ford Ranger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 94 Ford Ranger with the 4 cylinder, 8 spark plug engine. I just
bought the truck not running. only info I really have on the truck is that one
day it died and wouldnt restart. they tried to dump the clutch and start it and
the wiring harness under the hood between the engine and firewall caught
fire. fire was minimal and damage is fixable with a new harness. my
question is what could have caused it to die like that then catch fire when
trying to start it by dumping the clutch?
