sudden rough engine idle when accelerating and check engine light flashing

Asked by GuruCPV71 Mar 02, 2019 at 11:14 AM about the 2017 Hyundai Sonata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last night while driving home, the engine light suddenly started flashing and
the engine started shaking roughly. My wife said she didn't hit any bumps or
pot holes in the road that the conditions were very good since the road she
was on had just recently been re-paved. What could be the possible causes?
I'm thinking a vacuum line came off while my wife was driving. Haven't found
it yet. I'm open to suggestions. Called the dealer and they said not to drive it
and to have it towed to them to prevent any further possible damage to the
engine. I like and trust this dealership-they've been very honest and up front
with us.

did they find out whats wrong I have the same car but hybrid, and did the exact same thing, I was traveling 70 Mph and smooth road all of a sudden started shaking roughly like you said, and check engine light came on, so I pulled over and shut the car off and looked under hood, checked fluids, started it back up it was fine, continued on to SL city and took in to hyundai dealer, and they said there was no code, so left drove another 600 miles and have oil changed and it started doing it at startup, but not all the time, and check engine light comes on then goes off, on my way to service dealer to see what they say
