Prius brake pads replaced after 12,000 km (7,450 mi)

Asked by GuruG9H5Q Aug 13, 2020 at 09:07 PM about the 2017 Toyota Prius

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi there, wondering if anyone has had any experience in this area. My parent's
2017
Prius with only 12,000 km had to have its brake pads replaced - a cost of
roughly
$900 CAD (or $680 USD). My parents (now retirees) have barely driven the car
lately
due to the pandemic. The dealer said that due to inactivity, moisture built up
and
caused them to rust out.

Sadly, they paid out of pocket for this replacement.

Can anyone out there justify this?

Thanks,
Peter
