In a way your reasoning is correct, but I would NEVER put that much weight in the trunk of a passenger car. That weight is to the rear of the rear axle and will affect the rear end more than putting 4 or 5 passengers between the front and rear axles. Also that much weight in the trunk may be in excess of the rear tires weight load range. 400 - 500 lbs tops in the trunk (just my opinion).
