4x4 fail to engage on my 20 17 dodge ram

When I turn the knob to engage the 4x4 position the light come on to tell me I
am in 4x4 ,but it do not engage

The spline on the front differential stub axel were strip,I had to get the différentiel replace ,$3000.00
