They are, BUT, a car that's going on 16 years old is going to be a challenge, even with the lower mileage. All used cars are based on condition, it's the most important factor. Also, depends on whether you want a car that just "floats" or a more agile car with better fuel efficiency. Gas prices may be low now, but, when this turns around and it always does, the Lincoln will not be so easy to keep fueled.
Most cars will be dependable, IF THEY ARE PROPERLY SERVICED.
Had 2000 towncar with 320,000 miles on it before it was totaled by another driver. No injuries to be because they are built like tanks. As long as you clean the throttle body and all of those associated parts every year or so you should have no problems. Original Ford valve cover gaskets do not last as long as good thick aftermarket gaskets so use them. I replaced many parts on mine, but the engine was still running strong with no blue smoke. After the total I went out and found another 2000 Towncar with 74,000 miles for $4,000. Spent about $1,500 replacing coils, plugs, vaccuum hoses, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold, ect. Now I have a like new 50,000 luxury car equivalent for only $5,500 invested.
